Withdrawal of the proposed Bill on Counter Terrorism

- Approval of the Cabinet had been granted previously to present the Bill on Counter Terrorism in Parliament with a view to repealing the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act, No.48 of 1979 and enacting new legislation on counter terrorism. The said Bill is under consideration of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on International Relations in Parliament. Taking into consideration of the views expressed by various parties pertaining to certain provisions therein, the proposal made by the Minister of Foreign Relations to withdraw the said Bill, was approved by the Cabinet.
