Redress to Government and Semi Government employees who were subject to political victimization

- It has been observed that, in the recent past, charges had been framed targeting several Government and Semi Government officers with the intention of subjecting them to politically harassment and the inquiries concerned have been initiated deviating from the formal legal procedures. Therefore, the Cabinet at its meeting held on 2019-12-10 has granted approval to appoint a Committee under the chairmanship of the retired Supreme Court Judge Mr. Jagath Balapatabendi to examine such situations and report on same. The proposal made by the Prime Minister to appoint Mr. Sumudu K. Wickramarachchi, Attorney-at-law to function as the Secretary to that Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
