Review of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact Agreement

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2019 10 29 had granted approval to sign a compact Agreement and a Programme Implementation Agreement between the Millennium Challenge Corporation of the USA and the Government of Sri Lanka to obtain the grant funds provided by the Office of the Millennium Challenge Corporation for the implementation of several programmes of the identified fields. However, taking into consideration the views expressed on the project by various parties, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister to appoint a Committee comprising of the following to make a comprehensive study on the Millennium Challenge Corporation Project and submit recommendations to the Government and to suspend taking action in terms of the Cabinet decision dated 2019 10 29 in this respect, until such time that the Committee makes its recommendations, was approved by the Cabinet.
