Submission of the Gazette Notification to fulfill the legal requirement under Import and Export (Control) Act, No.1 of 1969 for approval of the Cabinet of Ministers
The Government Policy 'Saubhagyaye Dekma' ('Vistas of Prosperity') has recognized the necessity of encouraging the farmer and the manufacturer to cultivate crops and manufacture products that can be produced within the country as much as possible. It is expected to uplift the farmer's economy within the country and to control the outflow of local foreign exchange to the other countries.
As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Finance, Economy and Policy Development to table the Gazette Notification issued on 2019 12 06 making provisions under the Import and Export (Control) Act, No.1 of 1969 to control the importation of crops such as cardamom, clove, turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, arecanut, tamarind and black gram and the products such as kites, lanterns/Vesak lanterns and incense sticks, in Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
