Introduction of 1000 Information Technology Certificate / Diploma learning opportunities under the Institution of Technology affiliated to the University of Moratuwa

- It has been planned to implement an expeditious programme for providing training opportunities for Certificate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma courses for the students who have followed the technology subject streams, other subject streams or the students who have passed the Advanced Level Examination targeting the job market in the IT Sector which is presently in high demand locally and internationally for software production and internet based job opportunities. The said programme envisages to commence with 1000 training opportunities in the year 2020 and expects to increase the training opportunities up to 3000 by the year 2022. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, to conduct such training courses through the Institute of Technology at Diyagama affiliated to the University of Moratuwa and to get the contribution of a Committee of Experts in the field of Information Technology working in the private and public sectors to design the courses, was approved in principle by the Cabinet.
