Upgrading of the number of National Schools to be 1,000 within the school network and the establishment of new Tri lingual Schools covering every District

- The Ministry of Education has planned to implement a programme to increase the number of National Schools to 1,000 by developing 03 schools equipped with all facilities in each Divisional Secretariat Division and upgrading them as National Schools with the objective of providing a free, equitable and qualitative education to every child. The Ministry of Education has also planned to initiate a State of the Art National School in each District with tri lingual educational opportunities and to initiate 20 such schools in the next two year period. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Education for the implementation of the proposed programmes, was approved in principle by the Cabinet.
