Providing relief for the fishing community

- As a result of a fire that broke out in June this year in close proximity to the Kalametiya fishery harbour, the fishing boats and netting gear belonging to the fishermen engaged in the fishing industry have been destroyed. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to secure the necessary funds required for the supply of boats, engines and the fishing gear to the affected fishermen in order to re-uplift their livelihood, was approved by the Cabinet.
