Development of Plantation Sector

- Approval of the Cabinet had been granted previously to allocate a sum of Rs 600 million to the Sri lanka Tea Board through the Ministry of Plantation Industries and to authorize the Sri lanka Tea Board to arrive at a decision relating to the preparation of a suitable mechanism utilizing such funds with a view to enhancing the productivity of plantation sector expeditiously. As such, the joint proposal made by the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Plantation Industries to implement a productivity incentive scheme utilizing the said funds for the Regional Plantation Companies through the Ministry of Plantation Industries with the objective of improving the efficiency of the estate workers by uplifting their social well-being and the living standards, was approved by the Cabinet.
