Importation of Urea (Additional Fertilizer Requirements) under the Subsidized Fertilizer Programme for Crop Cultivation other than Paddy
- It has been identified previously, that the Urea Fertilizer requirement under the Government Subsidized Fertilizer Programme for the year 2019 as 238,200 MT for the paddy cultivation and 170,000 MT for other crop cultivation. But since, it has been observed that there is a possibility of further increasing of the extent of cultivation in Maha season of 2019 comparatively to the Maha season of 2018, the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to import an additional amount of 15,000 MT of Urea required for the crops other than paddy for the coming few months, to prevent a shortage of fertilizer in the country, was approved by the Cabinet.
