Implementation of Regulatory Measures for Water Closets, Water Draw off Taps and Stop Valves Metal and PVC

- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has identified that an excessive quantity of water is leaked and wasted due to the use of sub‑standard water fittings and as such, there are a several categories of water fittings that should be regulated for the prevention of sub‑standard water fittings being entered into the local market. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, to implement the regulatory measures identified pertaining to categories of water fittings such as Water Closets, Water Draw‑off Taps and Stop Valves Metal and PVC so as to derive benefits for the consumers and the producers of local water fittings and the environment as well, in consultation with the main Government institutions and based on the views of the public and the relevant stakeholders, was approved by the Cabinet.
