Making the existing Sri Lanka Teachers' Service and Sri Lanka Principals' Service as Closed Services and formulating a suitable salary structure

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to convert the Teachers' Service into a Closed Service and to take necessary measures to formulate an appropriate salary structure for the said service as the initial step of granting a reasonable salary scale for the Teachers' and the Principals' Services. However, since a considerable period of time will be taken to convert the Teachers' and the Principals' Services into Closed Services and to formulate an appropriate salary structure for the services, the proposal made by the Minister of Education to obtain the recommendations of the National Salaries and Cadres Commission on implementing the interim salary proposals given in the Report including the ''Observations and proposals of the Ministry of Education on eliminating salary anomalies in Teachers' and the Principals' Services'' which has been referred to the Special Commission for Reviewing salaries of the Public Service, as an interim proposal,was approved by the Cabinet.
