Report of the Ministerial Committee appointed to discuss with the representatives of the relevant Trade Unions and submit recommendations to the Cabinet

- A Ministerial Committee chaired by the Minister of Finance was appointed by the Cabinet at its special meeting held on 2019.09.27 to examine the action to be taken by the Government pertaining to the ongoing union strikes in the state sector and submit recommendations to the Cabinet. Accordingly, the recommendations made by the said Ministerial Committee, to revise the Executive Allowance, which is paid to all the officers amounting to Rs.3,000/- to Rs.15,000/- inclusive of the officers of the SLAS entitled to such allowance based on the period of service, as Rs.15,000/- in general, disregarding the period of service and to take the necessary steps to make the teachers' and the principals' services a closed service with the objective of preparing a suitable salary structure with reasonable salary scales and making the railway service as well, a closed one to prepare a suitable salary structure, was approved by the Cabinet.
