Coordination Task Force for the Detection of Proceeds of Crime

- All law enforcement agencies have pointed out that the lack of a formal coordination mechanism is the major obstacle in combating and mitigating, if not eliminating, organized criminality, money laundering and terrorist financing. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms, to establish a Coordination Task Force to recover the resources acquired unlawfully under the Chairmanship of the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and comprising of 10 other members in order the establish an effective coordination mechanism with operational level personnel, was approved by the Cabinet.
