Renovation of the Court Complex at Hulftsdorp in Colombo

- The Court Complex at Hulftsdorp in Colombo is a building complex with archaeological values which is nearly 200 years old. Within this complex, 7 Magistrate Courts, 9 District Courts and 7 High Courts, 3 Commercial High Courts and the respective offices of the said Courts are housed and no extensive renovation has been carried out over the years in an appropriate manner. As such, the proposal made by Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms to initially erect a pre-built structure and make renovations pertaining to the building complex by shifting court buildings in stages into same and to set apart the estimated provisions required for the purpose by way of annual provisions to be provided for the Ministry of Justice & Prison Reforms and to assign the said renovation activities to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) on design and built basis, subject to the approval of the Standing Technological Committee established in the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs, was approved by the Cabinet.
