Introducing an effective legal framework to counter terrorism

- New laws are required in respect of areas such as temporary restriction orders, prohibition on encouragement of terrorism in various ways and control of being in designated foreign areas and the collection of biometric data etc in order to deal with the new dimensions of terrorism. Accordingly, The joint proposal made by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft amending legislation for the existing legislation or to draft appropriate new legislation as per the proposals submitted by the Ministerial Committee appointed by the Cabinet for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
