The establishment of an Agricultural and Vocational Training Centre at Weerawila and Embilipitiya Thunkama and a Training Centre for women inmates associated with the Mahara Prison

- The proposal made by the Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms, to establish an Agricultural and Vocational Centre with all the facilities for rehabilitation of drug addicted persons imprisoned in the two open prison camps belonging to the Department of Prisons at Weerawila and Embilipitiya Thunkama, instead of establishing two Kibbutz model farms at Ambepussa and Weerawila prisons, in accordance with the budget proposals 2019, to set up a Training Centre for the women inmates, in the vacant land belonging to the Mahara Prison instead of establishing such a centre in the Dompe area, as has been proposed by the Budget Proposals 2019 and to provide the necessary financial provisions to the Department of Prisons by the General Treasury for the said 02 projects, was approved by the Cabinet.
