Strengthening of Transformation, Reconciliation and Inclusive Democratic Engagement (STRIDE) Project

- A project known as ''Strengthening of Transformation, Reconciliation and Complete Democratic Intervention'' is to be implemented with the indirect management of the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and the British Council with the overall objective of Strengthening the execution of decentralized functions in the Northern, Eastern, North Central and Uva Provinces and the dialogue between the people and the Government, thereby contributing to the resolution of critical underline causes of disputes and the prevention of escalation of local disputes. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Finance to enter into a Grant Agreement with the European Union to obtain a grant of Euro 40 million for financing the said project, was approved by the Cabinet.
