Construction of 2000 housing units under the Chinese Aid Programme for the low income people

- The Government of China has agreed to provide a grant for the construction of 2000 housing units under the Chinese aid programme for low income people. Accordingly, work sites have been identified in the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Moratuwa, Peliagoda, Thimbirigasyaya and Maharagama for the purpose and the land areas in Peliyagoda and Maharagama vested with the Urban Development Authority have been prepared for constructions. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Megapolis & Western Development, to vest the land called Elumaduwa Watta in extent of 02 Acres 01 Rood 03.77 Perches situated at Dr. Danister De Silva Mawatha in Dematagoda within the Divisional Secretariat Division of Thimbirigasyaya with the Urban Development Authority as a free grant under the State Land Ordinance and to secure provision to acquire the land called Batary Watta, in extent of 03 Acres 03 Roods 08.84 Perches situated at Thelavala Road within the Divisional Secretariat Division of Moratuwa and for the development of the said lands, was approved by the Cabinet.
