Amending the name of the 'National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka' as the 'Department of Intellectual Property of Sri Lanka'
- The National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka, established under the Intellectual Property Act, No.36 of 2003, has been mandated to administer the Intellectual Property system of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President, to amend the name of the 'National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka' as the 'Department of Intellectual Property of Sri Lanka' and to amend the introduction referred to in Section 04(1) of the Intellectual Property Act, No.36 of 2003, as the 'National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka' to read as the 'Department of Intellectual Property of Sri Lanka' in order to avoid the issues arisen when working along with the international and local institutions to accomplish its tasks, was approved by the Cabinet.
