Entrusting the printing of School Textbooks required for Distribution Free of Charge in the year 2020 to the Printing Institutions

- The Open Procurement Procedure has been commenced for the printing of textbooks from the printing institutions for the year 2020. Accordingly, it has been recommended to entrust the printing of textbooks to 29 selected printing institutions, having taken into consideration the minimum price tabled by the bidders, the minimum bid price agreed upon by the Department of Educational Publications subsequent to negotiations, the printing capacity of the bidders and the supplying on time as well as the determination of the Cabinet Procurement Committee. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Education to print 33,712,100 copies from 386 categories of school textbooks at a cost of Rs.3,982,299,535.00 from the said 29 printing institutions to enable them to be distributed among the schools prior to 30th November 2019, according to the procurement time table determined by the Cabinet Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
